X-treme Sandbag Training Presentation

Hello again,
I just finished watching Coach Josh Henkin's presentation on "X-Treme Sandbag Training." While his talk centered around sandbag training he shared some great tips that will help you now matter how you train.
Coach Henkin shared some great pieces of information in this presentation. Here are just a few:
--Train movements not muscles. Focus on training movements such as vertical push, vertical pull, horizontal push, horizantal pull, squat, deadlift, lunge, twist, and then carry weight for time and distance. If you figure out how to train all of these movements throughout the course of your training program then you will achieve maximal results.
--Different Implements Give Variety. Another concept that Coach Henkin shared was that different implements provide a different training effect. For example, Coach Henkin talked about the Squat and how important of a movement that it is. He went through a quick little demonstration showing how many different ways that you can change the basic squat:
1. Squat with the sandbag on your left shoulder
2. Squat with the sandbag on your right shoulder
3. Squat with the sandbag in a bear hug position
4. Squat with the sandbag in a Zercher position
5. Squat with the sandbag in an overhead squat position
6. Squat with the sandbag in an underarm choke position
7. Squat with the sandbag in a Clean position
If you are getting bored with your training OR if you have hit a training plateau then taking advantage of some of the above variations will help you out.
I have three of Josh's Sandbags and I am a big fan of them. I have found that by adding them to my "training toolbox" that I have broken through some training plateaus and have really looked forward to training with them due to the variety that they provide.

If you are interested in sanbag training and have no idea where to start be sure to check out Josh's "High Octane Training DVD" as it will show you everything that you need to know for effective sandbag training.
